Still some Cod on the ground along with some Whiting. At the end of January we start to go on the wreck for the start of the Pollack season offshore.
The Pollock are now running in full flow, and Brighton is well known for it's big Pollock this time of year. Some big double figured Pollock are found around on the wrecks using sidewinders, gills, shads with a long flowing trace. Drifting over the shipwrecks, the Cod are starting to show.
Still wreck fishing and going for big Cod now. The Pollock are still around and Cod up to 30lb on the offshore wrecks using perks, feathers, sidewinders and shads.
April is a nice month as it starts to warm up, with the Bass starting to show, along with Plaice, Dabs, Brills, Smooth-hounds and Mackerel on the inshore marks. Offshore wrecks still showing Cod and Pollock with a few Ling starting to show with the odd Conger. On the ground there are some big Black Bream showing now.
May is similar to April with a few Tope now showing and anchoring to wrecks for Cod and Conger, which are now fishing well. On the inshore marks the Black Bream are now fishing well too.
June is a good all round month as every fish is in full flow, drifting wrecks and anchoring wrecks. All the fish are in now with Ling showing on the deep marks and Cod on the 10 mile mark now.
We are now getting the big Cod at anchor now on squid and cuttlefish baits. Conger and the Ling are taking the Mackerel flapper anchoring to the wrecks inshore and offshore. Still drifting for Cod and Pollock with Conger anchored to wrecks. On the ground fishing side, we are catching Tope, Smooth-hounds, Plaice, Dabs, Bass and plenty of Mackerel showing now.
The drifting on the wrecks is slowing down as Cod are coming up on the cuttlefish at anchor along with some serious Conger fishing. Plaice, Dabs, Tope and Bass still around.
Same as August with some big fish around at anchor with the chance of a big Bass along with Plaice, Dabs and the Black Bream starting to show on the wrecks.
October is the start of winter Cod fishing with big cuttle baits and squid worm baits on the inshore rough ground. There is the chance of some big Cod and the Whiting are starting to show now.
Still on the ground for winter Cod and plenty of Whiting now showing anchored up with baits on the bottom. Wreck fishing has slowed down now and all the work is inside - nice, easy fishing.
Similar to October and November winter Cod, Whiting on cuttles, squid and worm. Big Cod around, this is the last chance as the Cod will move off to the wrecks towards the end of the month.
